KR Reykjavik Women

The women's side plays there on the same pitch as the men, under the same black-and-white stripes and the same badge — no separate crest was ever drawn for them.

The senior club dates to 16 February 1899, though when exactly women began playing under the KR name is not recorded. Between 1993 and 2003 they took six Icelandic titles, and in 1999 they added the cup to the league in the same season. Four cups in all, the last two in 2007 and 2008.

Katrín Ómarsdóttir arrived in 2001, aged 14, and was part of the sides that won the championships of 2002 and 2003 and the cups of 2002, 2007 and 2008. She left, then came back in 2017 and stayed until 2021 before moving into coaching. for Iceland she won 69 caps.

European football came early too — the 2001/02 season brought the club's first entry in the UEFA Women's Cup.
