Markaziy Stadium

Центральный стадион «Пахтакор» served as Uzbekistan's national stadium until 2012, and for most of that stretch it held far more people than it does now — some sources say as high as 60,000.

The 2007–2009 rebuild changed the character of the place: terraces gave way to seats, and capacity settled at 35,000. A further reconstruction in 2012 trimmed the figure again, though the club and most current listings still quote 35,000 as the official number. Through all of it, the pitch has stayed natural grass.

The stadium has hosted its share of finals — the Cup of Uzbekistan returns here regularly, and it staged the AFC U-16 Championship finals in both 2008 and 2010. The national team's own history at the ground runs from 1992 to 2012, closing with a 2014 World Cup play-off against Jordan that Uzbekistan lost on penalties.

Not every night here has been about football alone. During a 2022 AFC U-23 qualifier against Iraq, crowd trouble spilled onto the pitch, with objects thrown from the stands and a photojournalist among those hurt; dozens of spectators were later held responsible. The ground sits in the Shaykhantahur district, close to the metro stop that shares its name, though no club address beyond that has ever been published — only the pitch itself, plus the offices at pakhtakor.uz, formalise its place in the city.
