McKellar Park

The floodlights at McKellar Park have their own history. In 2018 temporary lights went up so a match could be broadcast, and residents of the surrounding McKellar streets complained about the glare; the main lights were afterwards switched off for night fixtures. The pitch is bordered by grass hills, the seats are confined to the Ken Carter Grandstand.

It began as the Belconnen Soccer Centre, opened by ACT Senator Margaret Reid, and it is still owned by the Belconnen Soccer Club. Belconnen United play here in the National Premier Leagues run by Capital Football; Canberra United use it for the A-League Women. Almost nothing else is played on the grass.

The ground's biggest occasions have come through the women's game. It staged the 2003 OFC Women's Championship, won by Australia, and in 2012 the W-League Grand Final, when Canberra United beat Brisbane Roar 3–2 in front of 2,512. The elimination final of April 2026 against Melbourne Victory drew 3,290 — close to the ground's stated limit, and a sell-out crowd by the standards of the hills.

Between those two dates came the money: lighting and surface work in 2015, paid for from a $650,000 allocation to venues connected with the AFC Asian Cup. McKellar Park hosted no tournament matches. Oman trained here.
