Městský stadion (Vítkovice Aréna)
Baník Ostrava did not choose this ground. The club came across the city from Bazaly in the 2015/16 season and moved into a stadium in Vítkovice. The reconstruction ran from 2012 to 2015 and cost around 900 million CZK — roughly €33–35 million — to bring the ground up to UEFA and FIFA standards. The old standing banks were demolished; new eastern, northern and southern stands went up in their place, drawn by Hutní projekt Ostrava and Projektstudio, with Metrostav and Hochtief CZ building them.
What the rebuild had to work around is the running track. The Golden Spike meeting has been held here every year since 1961, which makes athletics the older tenant by decades and explains why the stands sit back from the touchlines. The track has carried the 2007 IAAF World Youth Championships, the 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships and the 2018 IAAF Continental Cup. In 1997 the pitch inside it staged the Czech Bowl, the national American football final.
The Czech Republic have played four times in Vítkovice, and the visits are spread thin: friendlies against Turkey in 1996 and Serbia in 2015, then a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in 2016 and a 2022 qualifier against Belarus in 2021.
FC Vítkovice also play here. In 2025 the grass was lifted and relaid with pre-grown sod.
