Na Spořilově

FK Brandýs plays on Spořilov, the district that gave the ground its name when it opened on 20 June 1947.

The old terracing is gone, pulled down rather than replaced, and nothing covered went up in its place. There are no floodlights, no running track ringing the pitch — just the grass and a low capacity of 2,000, of which only 160 seats are actual seats. It is a ground built for a club, not for spectacle.

That is what made one night stand out. When Sparta Prague came to Brandýs for the last-32 round of the Czech Cup, 3,158 people found their way in, well past what the ground was ever meant to hold — still the record for Na Spořilově, and a measure of how rarely a place this size sees anything like it.
