Newport Harriers train and compete here, Newport RFC use it, and Newport City FC play their home matches on it.

For most of its life the place answered to a different name. Spytty Park is what people in the city called it, and the older name still surfaces in conversation. No sponsor has ever been attached to it.

The ground's busiest years belonged to Newport County A.F.C. , who left for Rodney Parade in 2013. Temporary demountable stands were brought in for bigger fixtures in 2002, 2007 and 2011. The attendance record dates from 11 November 2006, when 4,616 watched County play Swansea City in the FA Cup.

The most recent work went to the athletics side rather than the terraces: in 2020 more than £150,000 was spent on the throwing cages and the track surface. Of the total capacity, 3,246 are seats.
