Norman Broaster Stadium
The name here is not a sponsor's or a president's but a council foreman's. Norman Broaster chaired San Ignacio's town council and is remembered for one practical act: fencing the pitch, so that Mighty Avengers, the club that played there, could finally charge admission for its Sunday fixtures. The ground took his name sometime around the turn of the 1980s, once Mighty Avengers had run the show through the late 1960s and 1970s and taken the title in 1977/78. It is a small story, but it explains why a football ground in the centre of a Cayo District town, a short walk from the Farmer's Market, carries a man's name rather than a place-name or a club badge.
Tenants have come and gone without ever settling. Mighty Avengers through its title-winning run, then World FC, San Ignacio United, Belize Defence Force FC, and Police United, who were based in Belmopan but still played home matches here. Verdes FC have held it since 2014. The Cayo District first-division finals are played here, contested by sides like 7 Miles, Western Raiders, Santa Elena Royals and Cristo Rey.
Its one continental night came in June 1988, when Real Verdes hosted Cruz Azul here in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup.
