Nymosen

Vangede's ground began as wet ground. The area was known as Wildes Mose, a peat bog that Gentofte Municipality took over across the turn of the last century, and only later did anyone lay a football pitch on it. That pitch arrived in 1944.

Gentofte-Vangede Idrætsforening was founded on 21 August 1921, and the site has been its home from the start. So the order of things here runs the other way round from most grounds: the club did not move to Nymosen once it had grown into a venue.

What the drained mose became is a working sports facility rather than a stage. Nymosen carries a figure of about a thousand spectators, but that number covers standing space and the edges people watch from — there are no dedicated seats to sit in. The playing surface is artificial grass.

Nothing in the record marks the place out beyond that. No renaming, no rebuild of any scale, no final or concert that brought a crowd from outside the district. Nymosen is known locally as Nymosen Idrætsanlæg and, to those who follow the club, as GVI Nymosen — the address at Mosebuen, in Vangede, where a hundred-year-old club has always played.
