GVI

Anders Christiansen learned the game at Nymosen before Lyngby BK took him on. The pitch he came up on is still there, on Mosebuen, holding 1,000 people at most.

The club that runs it came out of a merger. Gentofte Boldklub and Vangede Idrætsforening put themselves together on 21 August 1921 and the result kept both names in an abbreviation nobody has ever bothered to soften into a nickname — GVI is simply what it stands for. The ground came with the arrangement and has never been swapped for another; the surface is artificial now, but the address has not moved in more than a century.

The competitive record is thin by design rather than by accident. In 2011/12 the team finished 12th of 14 in the Københavnsserien, which is close to the floor of a division that is already well down the Danish pyramid. The one line worth keeping is 2023/24, when GVI won the Copenhagen Series and went up into the Denmark Series, Pulje 1 — a step from the sixth level to the fifth.

Others have passed through. Kim Aabech, son of the Denmark international Hans Aabech, played here among a long list of Danish clubs. Lasse Qvist, a forward who had been in the national youth setup, spent 2013 to 2015 with GVI and later came back to coach the second team.

What Nymosen has never staged is a derby.
