O'Connor Enclosed
Canberra Olympic FC was formed in 1956, in the years when the capital's suburbs were filling out; O'Connor Knights FC came along in 1997.
That arrangement follows from what the place is. It is not a club's property but a public recreational space held by the ACT Government, an ordinary suburban oval put to work for football.
The football record here runs back to at least the early 2000s, and Canberra Olympic were playing on the oval by 2012. Its surroundings are older: O'Connor was established as a suburb in 1928 and developed through the middle of the twentieth century, so the pitch sits inside a street plan drawn long before either of its current tenants existed.
