Opus Arena

Osijek's new ground sits a stone's throw from where the old one stood, at the same address on Thomasa Woodrowa Wilsona, in the Retfala district on the western edge of the city. That is not a coincidence but the point: NK Osijek tore down its ageing home, Gradski vrt, and built again on the same footprint, so the club never had to leave its own neighbourhood behind.

The Opus Arena opened in July 2023, and its first fixture had nothing to do with Osijek at all. Croatia's national team took the pitch there on 12 October 2023 to open Euro 2024 qualifying against Turkey, handing the new stadium a European debut before the home side had settled in properly. That match did more to introduce the ground to the country than any league fixture could have.

The hybrid grass pitch and the modest capacity, just over thirteen thousand, mark it out as a club stadium built for a club's needs rather than a showpiece chasing continental finals. There is nothing borrowed about the identity here: no shared tenancy, no second club using the away dressing room on alternate weekends. It belongs to Osijek alone, on the same ground the old ground once occupied.
