Stadium
Peter Mokaba Stadium
Formerly: none (built from scratch)
Peter Mokaba Stadium went up on empty ground between 2007 and 2009. The new arena opened on 23 January 2010 with its own mini-tournament, the Peter Mokaba Cup, which Kaizer Chiefs won 4-2 against SuperSport United.
The roof structure takes its shape from the baobab. It hosted four group matches that June, and its record crowd — 38,891 — came for Greece against Argentina on 22 June, a game Argentina won 2-0. The pitch has run on Desso GrassMaster since construction, rye grass reinforced with synthetic fibre.
Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City both play here, though Polokwane City has at times preferred the old stadium instead.
