Pieta' Hotspurs Ground
Ħamrun, Malta
The Victor Tedesco Stadium sits in the heart of Ħamrun, a quiet block of terraced housing that gives way to the oval concrete bowl of the ground. It was built in the mid-1990s, finished and opened in 1996, and named after a man who led Ħamrun Spartans for nearly two decades. It is not a grand arena, but it is a working one. The floodlights were updated in 2013, when the Malta Football Association demanded standards for night games, and that is when the synthetic surface went down.
The capacity is often quoted as 6,000, though the main stand holds just under 2,000 seats. The rest is standing room or concrete tiers that slope down to the touchline. Pietà Hotspurs play here now, even though their administrative office is across town in Pietà. They did not have a stadium of their own, so they came here. The club has also played at Ta' Qali, when the fixtures were bigger or the weather worse, but the Victor Tedesco is where they live.
The pitch is artificial, FIFA 2-star approved, and it shows. It is hard and fast, and the ball does not die on it. The MFA started resurfacing works in the 2024/2025 season to fix the wear and tear, but the surface remains the defining feature of the place. The ground has never changed its name; it is still the Victor Tedesco, and it still belongs to Ħamrun, even if the club that plays there calls itself something else. The address is Triq Mile End, and the wind comes straight through the empty stands on a winter evening.
