Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium

The old Stade Moulay Abdellah, opened in 1983 and named for the brother of King Hassan II, hosted the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2019 African Games and the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup final between Real Madrid and Al-Hilal. Demolished in 2023, it made way for a complete rebuild on the same footprint on Avenue Hassan II in the El Massira district, carried out by Sonarges with the Moroccan contractor SGTM, design work split between Orange Atelier and Populous, and steelwork by Temsan.

The new stadium took twenty-four months, from September 2023 to September 2025, and opened on 5 September 2025 with a World Cup qualifier in which Morocco beat Niger 5-0. Capacity rose to 69,500, on a hybrid natural pitch built to FIFA specification.

Its first major test came within months: the venue staged the group stage, knockout rounds and final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, with Morocco beating Senegal 3-0 in the final on 18 January 2026 in front of 66,525 — a record for the new build. A fire during the finishing works in May 2025 had destroyed around 250 seats; scuffles between rival supporters were also reported after the CAN final. The complex is run by Sonarges rather than carrying a separate stadium website of its own.

Prince Moulay Abdellah now serves as home ground for the Morocco national team and for AS FAR, and in June 2026 it hosted concerts as part of the Mawazine festival.
