Rákóczi Stadion
Rákóczi Stadion in Kaposvár started life on land handed over by the town's sugar factory, and for decades the ground carried no other name than the one that stuck in the stands: Cukorgyári Gödör, the Sugar Factory Pit. No sponsor has ever put its name on the gates.
The numbers on the terraces have moved a long way from where they stand now. When Kaposvári Rákóczi reached the top flight, NB I, for the first time in 1975, the ground took in as many as 22,000 for a game — the attendance record still belongs to that season, set against Vasas, who left beaten 2-0. A rebuild in 2002-2004 brought a new main stand, designed by József Pápai, and cut capacity to roughly 6,100 seated and covered. Today the stadium holds 7,100, of which 4,500 have seats.
The most recent work, in 2016-2017, put roofs over the remaining stands, replaced the changing rooms and washrooms, added floodlighting and switched the heating to biogas, at a net cost of 480 million forints. Between the rebuilds, in June 1985, the ground hosted events of the 21st Summer Pioneer Olympics.
The stadium stands at Pécsi utca 4, and the club keeps its site at rakoczifc.hu.
