San Siro
Milan, Italy
Formerly: San Siro
The pitch sits in the centre, a rectangle of green surrounded by tiers that rise steeply on either side.
The name on the official documents is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but the players and the press still refer to it as San Siro. AC Milan and Inter Milan have played there since 1947, and the division of seats remains one of the few permanent lines drawn in the city. The capacity has been reduced from its peak in the 1990s to meet safety regulations, but the sense of space remains; the stands are high, and the view from the lower tiers cuts directly across the field.
Today, the structure serves two.
