Crusaders have played here since the club's earliest years, and Seaview still belongs to the club that built it. The clue to what makes it different from the terraced grounds nearby sits underfoot: in 2009 Crusaders laid a 3G artificial surface, the first Irish League club to do so, and the pitch has stayed synthetic since.

The old standing sections — Shore Road End, Railway End, part of the St Vincent Street stand — went in a 2011 rebuild that converted the ground to all-seated. What has kept Seaview in the wider football conversation since has little to do with Crusaders themselves. Northern Ireland's women play their qualifiers here, and the ground was where they beat Ukraine in a play-off on 13 April 2021 to reach a first-ever major tournament. Younger sides have used it too: group matches came through in July 2024, Italy against Norway among them.

Away from internationals, the ground keeps a local fixture of its own — the Steel & Sons Cup final, played every 25 December between north Belfast clubs. Shorefest has brought live music to the site on and off in recent years. None of it overlaps with the senior men's national team, which stays at Windsor Park; Seaview's international pedigree runs through the women's game instead.
