Stadium
Selman Stërmasi Stadium
Formerly: Dinamo
The ground sits in the middle of Tirana, close enough to the Lana that the river marks one edge of the walk in, with the Blloku quarter a few streets away. That location explains a good deal about the place. It was built as Dinamo , and it kept the name for thirty-five years, through the whole span of the communist period.
The renaming came in 1991, once the regime had fallen. The stadium took the name of Selman Stërmasi , who had been a player, then a coach, then president at Tirana . The choice was a club one rather than a civic one, and it has held since.
Tirana own the ground and run it.
The same patch of ground on Rruga Sulejman Delvina has been in use since 1956, under two names and two political systems.
