Silver Stadium

Lilongwe, Malawi

Situated in Area 47, the stadium sits behind the Lilongwe Academy International School and next to the African Bible College. The land is owned by the Reserve Bank of Malawi, which also owns the primary tenant, Silver Strikers FC. No official website exists for the venue itself, which leaves the local club’s site as the only digital trail.

There is a disagreement in the records about how many people the stands can hold. English Wikipedia cites 18,000, but other sources put the figure at 20,000, a number that was reportedly reached for a 1996 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Zaire in April of that year. The playing surface is natural grass. The stadium has hosted concerts, including an event featuring Wizkid and Awilo Longomba in September 2025.

The official completion date is 2017, yet the ground was already in use for the FDH Bank Knockout Cup finals in 2009 and 2010. It also hosted matches for the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the 1996 African Cup of Nations qualifications. The local team, Mlatho Mponela FC, plays here as well.
