The ground in Lilongwe that Silver Strikers call home carries two names depending on who is speaking — Silver Stadium to the club, Lilongwe Stadium to everyone else — and holds around 20,000. It is the club's own patch in a capital city where the football is split between neighbours.

The team began in 1977 not as a football project but as a side for staff of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, which is where The Bankers came from. The first honours came in the 1980s, before the league titles did: the national championship in 1985, then the Kamuzu Cup and the Chibuku Cup within a couple of seasons of each other.

The league came in the 1990s and then, after a gap, returned in a run that defines the club's modern record. Under Peter Mponda between 2008 and 2014 they took five consecutive titles. Nine Super League titles now sit against the club's name, the most recent in 2024.

Continental football has been the harder ground. The club's women's side won the NBM Women's Premiership in 2025-26.
