Creck

Brighton Munthali had already kept goal for Malawi when he signed for Creck Sporting Club in February 2025, a three-year deal that took him from Blue Eagles to a side then in its second season of top-flight football.

The name is younger than most of the squad. Until February 2024 this was Kawinga FC, which had itself taken over the franchise of Holy Cross Ambassadors; the change to Creck Sporting followed sponsorship from Creck Hardware and General Suppliers, a company owned by Apostle Clifford Kawinga. Promotion out of the Central Region Football League had come in 2023, so the club reached the TNM Super League under one name and played its first season there under another.

Sixth place in 2024 remains the high-water mark. The cups have brought Creck closer to something: in 2025 they went out of the FDH Bank Cup at the quarter-final stage on penalties to Mighty Wanderers, and out of the Airtel Top 8 at the same stage to Nyasa Big Bullets. Nothing has been won yet.

Home matches are played at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji, which holds 1,500, though Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe also takes fixtures. The Lilongwe calendar puts Creck up against Silver Strikers, Civil Service United and Kamuzu Barracks, none of which has yet hardened into a derby.

Hadji Wali, the centre-back, wears the captain's armband on a three-year contract of his own. Around him the recruitment has been outward-looking — the defender Miracle Gabeya came from UD Songo, the midfielder Ademola Ismail Ajibola from a Nigerian academy.
