Chitipa United

Chitipa United spent seasons from 2017 onwards playing "home" matches down the road in Karonga, and further still in Mzuzu.

That changed in 2025, when Chitipa Stadium was completed and cleared by the Football Association of Malawi for elite-division fixtures. It holds 15,000.

Chitipa United went down in 2016 and again in 2020/21, and in 2024 stayed up only on goal difference, ahead of FOMO FC. Kambalame later launched a fundraising drive with a target of 250 million kwacha.

Chitipa United won the Northern Region Football League three times — in 2016, 2018 and 2022 — and each title carried promotion with it. In cup football the club has gone no further than the semi-finals of the FDH Bank Cup in 2019, beaten by Kamuzu Barracks.

Alex Ngwira, who managed the side, went on to serve as acting chair of Malawi's coaches' association in 2020.
