Sir Zelman Cowen Park
Melbourne (Kooyong), Australia
Formerly: Kooyong Park
Malvern Council began buying land here between 1926 and 1934, laying cricket squares, and the ground kept its original name, Kooyong Park , for the best part of a century. This ground, at 444 Glenferrie Road, does the unglamorous work: Righetti Oval carries the cricket, Wadsworth Diamond the baseball, and between them the site has hosted the Malvern Braves Baseball Club since 1898, and Glen Iris Baseball Club besides.
The renaming came in 2013, when the council attached the name of Sir Zelman Cowen , Governor-General of Australia from 1977 to 1982.
