Two things this ground in Vágur does without: floodlights and a running track. The first sets the calendar — every match has to fit inside the daylight, which in the Faroes is a different quantity in April than it is in June, and there is no rolling the dice on a late kick-off. The second sets the distance: with no athletics oval around it, the touchline runs close to whoever is standing behind it.

It has been in use since 1924, which makes the ground older than the names of the club that plays on it. The tenants were VB Vágur, then VB/Sumba after the merger with the village up the coast, and are now FC Suðuroy — three sets of letters on the same patch of ground off Eiðisvegur.

The surface has changed more often than the club's name in recent years. An artificial pitch went in and was replaced in 2004; the current DOMO surface followed in 2018. That is the pattern across the islands, where grass rarely survives a season of wind and salt, and it means a side arriving from the mainland finds the ball moving differently from what it left behind.

What the ground looks like now is largely the work of those two pitch installations rather than of any single rebuild. Who put the original ground down in 1924, and who paid for it, is not recorded in what survives.
