Kolbotn Women

The women's side at Kolbotn grew out of an existing sports club rather than being built from nothing: Kolbotn IL, based in the small town of Kolbotn in what is now the municipality of Nordre Follo, set up a women's football section in 1985. That section is what the club still is today.

It took nine years to reach the top flight. Promotion came through a play-off in 1994, and Verdal were beaten 5-0 in the tie that took Kolbotn up.

The decade that followed produced everything the club has to show. Kolbotn won the Toppserien in 2002, then took it twice in a row in 2005 and 2006. The cup arrived immediately after that run, in 2007, when Asker were beaten 4-2 in the final.

Home is Sofiemyr stadion , an artificial-pitch ground where only 400 of the seats sit under a roof; counting the open standing areas, the capacity is put at 1500. The team plays in white and blue.

Kolbotn dropped out of the Toppserien in 2022. The stay in the 1. divisjon Kvinner lasted a single season — the club won the second tier in 2023 and went straight back up.
