Bryne Women

Emily Erland and Karina Føysivik Høø turn out for Bryne in the 1. divisjon these days, part of a squad still built more on the promise of Jæren than on names known further afield. The women's side has never produced a full Norway international during its time in the lower tiers, and no player has stayed long enough in the record books to be remembered as a club legend. What the side does have is a single afternoon that still gets mentioned: in 1987 it reached the final of the Norwegian Cup, losing 1–2 to Sprint-Jeløy. That same year the men's team won the men's Cup, a coincidence that still causes confusion when the club's history comes up.

The women's team was never spun off as a separate legal entity with its own founding date. It carries the birthdate of Bryne Fotballklubb itself, formed on 10 April 1926 as Bryne Fotball-lag, and plays under the same badge and the same nickname, Jærens superlag — "the superteam of Jæren."

Rivalries run along the coast of Rogaland: fixtures against Viking, FK Haugesund, Sandnes Ulf and Klepp are grouped loosely under the label Rogalandsderby, though none of them carries a name of its own.

Home games are played at Bryne Stadion, a ground with room for 4,000, of which 2,507 are seated. The kit is red shirts and shorts with white trim, a colour scheme unchanged since the club's early years in a small town on the Jæren plain, where the football side has always been the one measured against.
