Frigg Oslo Fk Women

The women's side of Frigg go into this season in the 1. divisjon Kvinner, Norway's second tier, after coming up in 2025. Home games are played at Tørteberg kunstgress 2, an artificial pitch that holds 1,000 and doubles as a training ground. It is a long way from Frogner Stadion, the 5,500-capacity ground where the men made their name.

The promotion arrives roughly six decades after the women's team last mattered nationally. Frigg were Norwegian champions in 1962 and again in 1964, when the top flight was called Hovedserien.

In 1971 Frigg went to the newspaper Dagbladet and, together with it, staged the first unofficial Norwegian championship for women. Four years later, when the federation finally set up a women's committee, Ellin Wille went onto it from Frigg.

The men's record sits alongside rather than above it: three Norwegian Cups, in 1914, 1916 and 1921, three more finals lost, 15 seasons in the top division running up to 1973, and no league title.

The club took its present name, Frigg Oslo Fotballklubb, in 1990, having merged with SK Varg in 1954. The name itself is older than either date — Frigg, the goddess of Norse mythology.
