St. Joseph High School (Metuchen, NJ)

Metuchen is not a football town with a long list of grounds to choose from — St. Joseph High School has the one field in the city that fits the bill, and everything about it traces back to a single rebuild. The site used to carry a plainer name, The Oval, before the school tore it up and started over in March 2015, laying artificial turf and a running track that were blessed that October. What went up first was the field itself; the stands came later, arriving only in 2020, when the 1,500-seat bleachers and press box were finally finished and the school opened them with a game on 3 October that year — a five-year gap between playing surface and a proper place to watch from.

The field carries its own name, Brenner Family Field, and today hosts St. Joseph's American football, lacrosse, soccer and track programmes on the artificial surface at 145 Plainfield Ave.
