Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo

Cameroon built this stadium for the 1972 Africa Cup of Nations it hosted. It sits in the Mfandena quarter of Yaoundé, Stade Omnisports, and it opened wide enough — 42,500 seats — to hold far more than that when the occasion demanded. On 29 November 1981, a World Cup qualifier against Morocco drew 120,000 people through the gates.

The arena has hosted Cameroon's Cup of Nations twice over, taking semi-finals in 1972 and, half a century later, group games, the Egypt–Morocco quarter-final and the third-place match at the 2021/2022 tournament. It also carried the 2016 Women's Cup of Nations and, in 1996, the African Athletics Championships, and it remains the traditional home of the Cameroon Cup final. Canon Yaoundé and Tonnerre Yaoundé play their home fixtures here, alongside the women's side Louves Minproff, and the national team still treats it as its own ground.

Age has caught up with the pitch and stands. A first renovation came in 2005, and Egypt's Arab Contractors carried out a deeper rebuild in 2015–2016 ahead of the Women's Cup of Nations, after an earlier contract with China's Sinohydro fell through. Even so, CAF flagged the stadium as outdated in September 2024, placing it in the confederation's fourth category of standards, only weeks after clearing it for 2025 Cup of Nations qualifiers. Outside football, the stadium has drawn its own crowds: the rapper Booba performed there in May 2017, Maître Gims a month earlier, and in May 2022 it staged a gala match marking seventy years since the birth of Cameroonian great Roger Milla.
