The road tells you what the place is for. Stade du Canal sits on Route de Delémont, and the ground shares that stretch with the club's own buildings and a scatter of local businesses.

Courrendlin is a commune in the Delémont district of the canton of Jura, and the ground carries more than one team. FC Courrendlin-Courroux — the club is commonly just FC Courrendlin — plays here, and so do its second and third sides, which means the natural grass takes a heavier week than a single-team ground of this size would. That matters at this level, where a pitch is a resource before it is a stage.

The listed capacity of a thousand is a ceiling rather than a description. When FC Courrendlin met FC Vicques on 1 September 2018, the reported crowd was two hundred, which is closer to the ordinary Saturday here: a few rows of people who know each other, a fixture between neighbours where the history between them adds an edge.

The Buvette du FC Courrendlin stands on the site — the club's own buffet, and in grounds of this scale the buvette is often where the afternoon actually happens, before the match, at half-time, and for a long while after the referee has finished.
