Courrendlin-courroux

Two village clubs from either side of the Birs valley put their names together in December 2022, and the merged side inherited something few clubs of its size carry: two grounds. Home matches are split between the Stade du Canal in Courrendlin, where 200 people fill the place, and the Stade de Bellevie in Courroux, which holds upwards of 1,000.

The numbers that matter here are not league positions. The club fields between 20 and 25 active teams and counts more than 500 members — in a commune the size of Courrendlin, that is a substantial share of the population passing through the changing rooms at some point in a season.

The women's side plays a division above the men, in the 1st League, and enters the AXA Women's Cup. Manon Berberat has come out of that section. The men's first team sits in the 2nd Regional League and takes its place in the Swiss Cup draw.

The nearest thing to silverware belongs to the veterans. The Seniors 30+ team reached the final of the Coupe BCJ and finished second in the regional championship — a runners-up place in a competition run by the Jura association, which is the level at which this club competes and wins.

Grenchen, Courtételle and Moutier supply the fixtures the calendar gets marked for; all three are within a short drive, and the table tends to go out of the window in those games.

The older of the two founding clubs started life in 1919 as FC Étoile Courrendlin sur Choindez, named for the steelworks hamlet down the gorge. Courroux followed on 22 March 1920.
