Stade Municipal de Melong

Melong sits far from the grounds fans usually name when they talk about Cameroonian football, and the Stade Municipal de Melong keeps its own scale rather than chasing the bigger arenas. A capacity of a thousand tells the story on its own: this is a ground built for a town, not for a crowd bussed in from elsewhere.

The pitch is natural grass, kept to the standard the Ligue de Football Professionnel du Cameroun required when it homologated the ground in February 2017, clearing it for competitive fixtures involving Stade Renard de Melong, the club that calls it home and carries the same "Stade" name as the venue itself. That approval mattered more than it might elsewhere, since Renard plays its football in MTN Elite One, the country's top flight, and a club at that level needs a ground the league is willing to sign off on.

The stadium's profile rose again in 2024, when it was picked to host the opening fixture of the MTN Elite One season — a rare turn in the spotlight for a venue this size, putting Melong on the same footing, for one round at least, as the grounds of the league's more established sides.
