Stadion auf dem Wurfplatz

The ground sits inside the Deutsches Sportforum in Westend, on the plot that once served as the complex's throwing field — the Wurfplatz that still gives the stadium its name. That inheritance explains the address and the setting: this is a training-and-competition campus, not a standalone arena dropped into a residential street.

It opened on 29 July 2004 and has not been substantially rebuilt since. What has changed is who uses it. The regular occupants are Hertha BSC II, playing in the Regionalliga Nordost, along with the club's U19 and U17 sides.

Between 2010 and 2018 it became the standing home of the finals of the German youth club cup, the DFB-Junioren-Vereinspokal.

The most unusual stretch came later. From 2021 until December 2022, VSG Altglienicke played their first-team home matches here, because their own ground did not meet league requirements — a full senior side borrowing a reserve stadium on the other side of the city for the better part of two seasons. In 2021 the pitch also hosted Berlin Thunder of the ELF, adding American football to the calendar.

The surface is natural grass. What sets the place apart is less the stand than the traffic through it.
