Stadion Letná

Sparta Praha have not won a trophy without playing at Letná since 1917, when the ground opened with a 3–2 win over Viktoria Plzeň. Everything since has been built around that one pitch: the current structure, finished in 1969 to designs by Cyril Mandel and Vladimír Syrovátka, replaced the open terraces of the interwar years without moving the club off the site.

The record crowd, 21,362, came not for a Sparta match but for the Czech national side against the Faroe Islands on 9 October 1999 — a reminder that for decades Letná served as the country's default venue whenever Prague needed a bigger stage than a club ground normally requires. That role extended well past football: in 1930 it hosted the Third Women's World Games, and on 7 September 1996 Michael Jackson played his first Prague concert here, drawing some 125,000 people, far beyond anything the seated capacity today would allow.

The stadium's wider setting carries more weight than the ground itself. The plateau above it is the same Letná where, in November 1989, roughly 800,000 people gathered for the demonstrations that helped end four decades of Communist rule — a piece of Czech history that happens to sit beside the touchline rather than inside it.

Sponsorship has rewritten the name on the gate repeatedly — Toyota Arena, AXA Arena, two spells as Generali Arena, a brief return to plain Letná Stadium — settling on epet ARENA since November 2022, while supporters have carried on calling it Letná regardless of what the signage says.
