Zărnești built its stadium around a paper mill. Stadionul Celuloza takes its title from the cellulose and paper factory that once ran the club as its own.
The team itself goes back to 1923, though it took until the 1936–37 season for a first side to enter organised competition, playing then as Barsa Zărnești. From 1950 it became Celuloza Zărnești, before a 2010 reorganisation left it as ASC Olimpic Zărnești.
What stands out is the wooden stand, old enough by 2019 to be called an eighty-year structure.
