Stadionul Steaua

Ghencea has hosted Steaua since before most of the current squad's parents were born. Construcții Erbașu led the works, with Graphic Studio drawing the concept and Popp & Asociații handling the structural side.

The reopening, on 7 July 2021, doubled as a piece of continuity: CSA Steaua faced OFK Beograd. That first match finished 2-2; the second, 47 years on, ended 6-0. Between those two dates the old Ghencea had its own list of nights worth remembering — semi-finals in the European Cup against Anderlecht in 1986 and Galatasaray in 1989, and the World Cup qualifier against Denmark in November 1989 that sent Romania to Italia '90.

The rebuild raised capacity only slightly, to 31,254, all of it seated under a metal roof and lit by a Philips Signify system. What has followed the reopening has been less settled: the ownership dispute between CSA Steaua and FCSB over who may actually use the Steaua name and the stadium itself has run alongside the club's football. The pitch itself, a hybrid surface laid to the standard 105 by 68 metres, sits beneath a Bucharest sky that has now watched two different stadiums rise on the same patch of Sector 6.
