Stadionul Viktor Mumzhiev
What sets this ground apart in Comrat is that nothing of the old one was kept. The Stadionul Orășenesc din Comrat that stood here was pulled down entirely, and the arena that replaced it went up in 2011–2012 on money from the Executive Committee of Gagauzia — 15 million Moldovan lei for the first build. It opened on 12 March 2012 and carries the name of Viktor Mumzhiev.
That first version was not the last. On 18 October 2018 the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, visited Comrat; the helicopter that brought him damaged the roof of the arena. What followed was less a repair than a second construction phase, funded by the Turkish government — reported at around 10 million euros.
The pitch is artificial turf, which shapes what the ground can and cannot host. Moldova's national side does not play here: the arena does not meet the requirements. Nor has it drawn the domestic occasions that fill a stadium once a season — no cup finals, no European ties. Its calendar is club football, and two clubs at that: CF Univer Comrat, in the first division, and FC Olimp Comrat, a division below.
The address is still ulitsa Lenina, 15A.
