Univer Comrat

Univer Comrat go into this season in Moldova's Liga 1, the country's second tier, a place they reached by winning Liga 2 in 2022–23 under the name Univer-Oguzsport. Since then the club has settled on the name it carries now.

Comrat is the capital of Gagauzia, and the club has worn the region's name more often than its own. It has been Gagauziya Comrat, Gagauziya-Oguzsport, Oguzsport, CF Oguzsport — a run of relaunches. Only once before had it reached the top flight, in 2010–11, and that stay lasted a single season before relegation sent it back down.

There was a spell, too, when the club left Comrat altogether. Between 2000 and 2001 it played out of Chișinău as Universitatea Tehnica Chișinău before the move was reversed and the team came home.

The 2022–23 promotion came with a second trophy, the Gagauzia Cup, won the same year. Home games are played at the Stadionul Viktor Mumzhiev, in red, in front of a ground that holds 4,000. Across the city sits Olimp Comrat, and games between the two are not a derby.

The club was founded in 1991 as Bugeac Comrat, five years before the Universitatea Comrat name that would later give way to all the rest.
