Oguzsport

Comrat had a football club called Universitatea, formed in 1996, long before anyone attached the name Oguzsport to it. A separate club under that name appeared in 2014, and the following year the two were folded into one, Gagauziya-Oguzsport. The side has since also played as Univer-Oguzsport, and its ties reach further back still: Wikipedia treats it as heir to Budjak Comrat, which took the Moldovan Cup in 1992 and finished third in the league that year.

Since then the club has mostly worked its way up from the lower tiers. Promotion to the top division in 2009–10 came almost by accident — Comrat finished third in Division A, but climbed anyway after runner-up Milcor turned down its own place.

President Anatolie Mavrodi has been the figure steering the club through this stretch, including setting up a youth academy alongside the first team. On the pitch, Alexandru Ghercioglo's winner against Ungheni in 2015/16 is one of the few individual moments still cited from that period. Home games are played at Stadionul Comrat, holding around 4,000.

Domestic assignments have carried Oguzsport around Moldova's provincial clubs, but nothing has quite the edge of a trip to Ungheni, the side on the other end of that 2015/16 winner.
