FCM Ungheni

Ungheni's football has spent more time changing hands than settling into one. Local authorities and a group of businessmen put the club together in August 2000. The municipality reclaimed it in 2004 and renamed it Moldova-03 Ungheni. What exists now was rebuilt from that collapse the same year, by Sergiu Muntu and Artur Vasile , who put the FCM Ungheni name back on a team starting again near the bottom of Moldovan football. It has since worked its way back up through the lower divisions to Liga 1, the country's second tier, playing in black and red at the Stadionul Municipal Ungheni. The rebuilt club's record is written almost entirely in Divizia B, the third tier: three group titles in the Centru zone, in 2014/15, 2018/19 and 2019/20, and one more in the Nord zone in 2020/21, won after Muntu and Vasile's side had shifted zones.
