Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil

The record crowd at Bukit Jalil was not for a match. On 27 December 2025, 100,000 people came through the gates for the audio launch of a Tamil film soundtrack. The closest a game has come was 26 December 2010, when 98,543 saw Malaysia meet Indonesia in the AFF championship final, and that remains the sporting benchmark.

The stadium was built between 1995 and 1998 for the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and opened on 11 July that year. Three firms shared the design: Arkitek FAA of Malaysia, Weidleplan Consulting of Germany, and Schlaich Bergermann Partner, membrane-structure specialists who took on the roof.

Since then it has stayed the country's ceremonial ground rather than a club's home. It opened the Commonwealth Games, then the SEA Games in 2001 and again in 2017, hosted matches at the 2007 Asian Cup including a semi-final, and returned for AFF finals in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. Malaysia's national team plays here. A rugby side, Malaysia Valke, used it briefly in 2020.

The pitch was relaid in 2020, the old cow grass replaced with Zeon Zoysia — a change driven as much by the concert calendar as the football one. Coldplay drew 81,812 in November 2023; Ed Sheeran, Jay Chou, Blackpink, Billie Eilish and Linkin Park have all played the bowl.

The name changed in March 2026. After a naming-rights deal with Telekom Malaysia, the ground managed by Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia became TM National Stadium, ending 28 years as Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil.
