Tancheon Stadium

The stream gave the ground its name, though not at first. It opened in April 2002 as part of what was then called the Seongnam 2 Sports Complex, a municipal project the city had begun building in August 1997 at a cost of some 112.1 billion won. Only in January 2006 did it take the name of the Tancheon.

By then the ground had already found its tenants. Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma played the opening professional fixture here on 26 May 2002, a friendly against Poland won 2-1, and from 2005 the club made it a permanent home. Seongnam FC inherited both the ground and the arrangement, twice moving out to the older Seongnam Sports Complex while work went on — during the canopy installation of 2009 and 2010, and again in 2019, the running track redone in blue and a new electronic display fitted for 2 billion won.

The run of AFC Champions League nights played here earned the place the nickname Tancheon Fortress. The full house came later than the reputation: on 12 March 2016, against Suwon Samsung Bluewings, 16,146 people filled it for the first K League sell-out in the ground's history — the capacity figure and the attendance record are the same number.

There are no naming rights attached, and none appear to have been sold. The stadium carries the name of the stream, which is what the city called it when it stopped calling it a number.
