The ground sits at the southern edge of Lansdowne Park, where Bank Street meets the Rideau Canal in the Glebe. It opened in 1908 as Lansdowne Park, took the name Frank Clair Stadium in 1993, and became TD Place Stadium in 2014 under a ten-year sponsorship deal with the Toronto-Dominion Bank.

The 2014 rebuild, carried out by Cannon Design with Pomerleau as general contractor, tore down the old south stand, refurbished the north side and added new structures around it. FieldTurf has covered the pitch since 2001. Capacity has moved with each rebuild: 30,927 through 1975–2007, down to 26,559 once part of the south stand came down, then 28,826 before settling at its current 24,000.

The record crowd dates back to when the ground still carried Frank Clair's name: 51,242 turned out on 21 November 2004 for the Grey Cup between the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampeders. Ottawa Redblacks have called it home since 2014, joined since by Atlético Ottawa, the Ottawa Gee-Gees and, from 2025, Ottawa Rapid FC. The Grey Cup returned twice more, in 2017 and 2024, and the ground hosted matches at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
