Teslim Balogun Stadium

Surulere's stadium spent longer as a construction site than it has as a working ground. Work began in 1984 under military governor Gbolahan Mudasiru, to a design drawn up by Nigerian architect Onafowokan Michael Olutusen in 1981, and then stalled through successive changes of government. For twenty-three years the half-built structure sat as one of Lagos's known "white elephants" before the Lagos State Government finally pushed the project to completion, with architect O.C. Majoroh of Majoroh Partnership finishing the works and the ground opening in 2007. It carries the name of Teslim Balogun, and stands close enough to Lagos National Stadium that the two are still sometimes confused.

The pitch itself changed character partway through the stadium's life. It opened on an artificial surface, which the Lagos State Government began replacing in 2018 to bring the ground up to FIFA and CAF standards; the work was finished by September 2021, and the stadium has played on natural grass since.

Its best-attended night came during the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, when the stadium hosted group matches and a semi-final, and a crowd of 24,000 watched hosts Nigeria beat Spain 3-1 in November of that year. Cup finals have landed here too, including the 2007 Nigerian FA Cup and the 2009 Federation Cup between Enyimba and Sharks. Away from football, it has staged the Eko 2012 National Sports Festival, Olamide's OLIC 4 concert in December 2017, and campaign rallies for Bola Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2023 elections.

First Bank FC have called it home since 2007, and Nigeria's Super Eagles return regularly for World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, among them games against Lesotho and the Central African Republic. Vandrezzer FC and 1472 F.C. have also used it as a base, alongside Nigeria's national rugby side.
