Thermoplan Arena
The name over the door in Lucerne changed hands on 1 July 2026. From its opening the ground was the Swissporarena, carrying the name of Swisspor Holding; from that date it became the Thermoplan Arena, under a ten-year contract with Thermoplan AG.
The arena opened in two stages, which is unusual enough to be worth separating. The first competitive fixture came on 31 July 2011, a Swiss league match against Thun that finished goalless. The ceremony proper waited another five weeks: on 3 September 2011 the invited guests came, and Hamburg were the visitors for the friendly, which ended 2:2. So the ground's first goals were scored by a German side and its own, in a match that counted for nothing.
The address is Horwerstrasse 91, on the Allmend flats south of the old town, and the pitch is natural grass.
