Viby Idrætspark

Formerly: Viby Stadion

The ground on Skanderborgvej was drawn up by a municipal engineer, N.K. Hansen, and built by Aarhus Municipality — earthworks began in the spring of 1949, and the gates opened for the first match, against Esbjerg fB in March 1953. Viby Idrætspark was laid out then for a crowd of 4,000.

What the ground is known for arrives in the cup rather than the league. Viby IF, who have played here since the venue opened and who were founded three decades before it, went to the quarter-finals of the 1954–55 Danish Cup, beating KB 2–1 in the round of 16 before going out 2–1 to Odense Boldklub in a match remembered for the protests of the supporters as much as for the score.

The visits from the top flight since then have mostly ended one way. AGF won 8–0 here in 2008. Two years later, in the third round of the cup on 22 September 2010, FC København came and took it 4–1. FC København returned in 2018 and won 3–0; Randers FC won 2–0 in 2019.

The pitch is natural grass. Alongside it sits an artificial surface, the MKS Byg & Entreprise Arena, which carries the training and the youth fixtures. The club's own high-water mark in the league — the 2nd Division, the third tier — came in 2011. No sponsor has been attached to the ground itself, though many still call it Viby Stadion.
