The deepest run in Viby IF 's football history came in the 1954-55 Danish Cup, when the club beat KB of Copenhagen 2-1 in the last 32 and then lost 1-2 to OB in the quarter-finals.
The silverware the club does hold was won elsewhere. Between 1978 and 1989 the athletics section took 61 Danish championship medals. The section was shut down in 1990.
That mixture is the point of the place: the club was set up on 9 June 1918 as Viby Idrætsforening, a multi-sport association, and the footballers share the name with basketball, gymnastics, handball and tennis.
On 26 June 2010 they beat Aabenraa BK 6-1 and went up into the Denmark Series, the fifth tier. Almost a year later, on 18 June 2011, a 2-1 win over Frederikshavn fI got them over the line into the 2nd Division — the third level of the Danish game, and the highest the club had reached.
Home is Viby Idrætspark, which holds 2,000.
