OKS

Odense's gas works, electricity works and telephone exchange each ran a sports club for their workers. The colours went; the municipal roots showed in the name, Odense Kommunale Sportsklub, until 1945, when the club became Odense Kammeraternes Sportsklub and kept the abbreviation OKS.

For its first four decades the club played inside the Danish Workers' Sports Association rather than the main federation, and that is where its titles come from: champions in 1946 and 1947, then again in 1967 and 1968.

The move into DBU football took longer. OKS reached the 3rd Division in 1979, finished second there in 1980 and went up to the 2nd Division, the second tier, under Roald Poulsen. Division, the fifth level.

Since 1968 the first-team players have changed in the basement of the clubhouse, which is how they became Kældertruppen — the cellar squad.
