Челтнем supporters solved the problem the way supporters usually do: they kept calling it Whaddon Road, and so does most of the football press.

The ground was laid out in 1927 and stood for five years before Cheltenham Town moved in, in 1932.

Its largest crowd came on 17 November 1956, when Reading visited in the FA Cup and 8,326 people got in. That figure now sits above the current capacity of 7,066.

The most recent change to the ground has nothing to do with the pitch. In 2024 Whaddon Road became the first stadium in League One fitted with solar panels to supply its own power. The playing surface remains natural grass.
