WIN Stadium

The ground sits at the corner of Crown and Harbour Streets in the middle of Wollongong. The name it carries now arrived in 1997, when WIN Television bought the naming rights. Before that it was Steelers Stadium, after the Illawarra Steelers, who played here from 1982 until the club merged out of existence in 1998. Since 1999 the tenants have been the St. George Illawarra Dragons.

The Southern Grandstand was done in 1992, the Northern Grandstand opened in April 2002 at a cost of $8 million, and then work began on the Western Grandstand. In September 2011 high winds buckled its 150-tonne roof; the stand did not open until June 2012, by which point the project had run to roughly $29–31 million.

The record crowd, 19,608, came for the 2005 NRL Qualifying Final, the Dragons beating Cronulla-Sutherland 28–22. Rugby union passed through for the 2003 World Cup, with Canada against Tonga and France against the United States. In 2018 the ground took the first Super League match ever played outside Europe, Wigan Warriors against Hull FC. Elton John drew 20,285 here in 2017.
